When you are trying to learn a new skill, it can be hard to know where to get good information.
I hope that this blog will be a go to source for new bloggers to up their photography game.
When I was learning photography, I searched for a place I could get lots of good information for a good price.
For me, one of those places was KelbyOne.
KelbyOne was started by the Photoshop Guru Scott Kelby.
Here is his bio from his website scottkelby.com:
“Scott is the President and CEO of KelbyOne (the online educational community for creative people); the editor and publisher of Photoshop User Magazine; Conference Technical Chair for the Photoshop World Conference & Expo; Host of the influential weekly photography talk show “The Grid;” Founder of the annual “Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk” (the world’s largest social photography event); Training Director and lead instructor for KelbyOne Live Seminars, and author of a string of bestselling books.”
So anyways, he has been in the business for a long time and so have the other people that teach on the site.
What is KelbyOne?
KelbyOne is a website that has online classes on many photography topics by many different instructors. It is a subscription site, so you pay monthly and then you can watch as many classes as you want that month.
What are they topics they teach?
- Plugins, Apps and More
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- & more
How much is it?
It is a month membership fee of $19.99. They also have a Free 10 day trial if you want to check it out first.
What are my favorite classes on KelbyOne?
There are so many classes that I love on there.
When I was doing Landscape Photography, here are some of the classes I took:
Landscape Photography Series with Matt Kloskowski
From Flat to Fabulous with Scott Kelby
Night Time Photography Techniques with Gabriel Biderman
For beginners, I would take these classes:
Beginners Start Here with Scott Kelby
You Shot That With Your IPhone with Kalebra Kelby
The 20 Time Proven Rules of Composition with Rick Sammon
Other resources for bloggers on the site:
Food Photography Masterclass with Steve Hansen
Design Graphics for Social Media in Photoshop: 101 with Scott Kelby
How to Build An Audience in Instagram with Scott Kelby
These are just a few of the classes available. There are hundreds on the site. They are all well taught and amazingly helpful.
Why do I think it is worth the money?
Learning Tracks- They have learning tracks, which means you can pick a topic (landscape photography, career development, food photography, etc) and it will combine the classes available to help you get further on that topic. This is handy so you don’t have to search the whole site to find what you need on a topic.
Member Discounts- They have a whole section of discounts for many retailers (like Apple, Mpix, etc) that are available to KelbyOne members only.
Toolkit- This is a group of extra resources that is available to KelbyOne members, such as Lightroom presets and Photoshop textures.
Community- There is a member forum where you can ask questions and get help if needed.
Here is a video to show you a sneak peek of what is inside a KelbyOne membership:
